Signs of pneumonia and the lungs affected
Aspiration penumonia develops after the inhalation of oropharyngeal secretions and colonized organisms. Signs of pneumonia include coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing, and fatigue. Once organisms enter the lungs, they usually settle in the air sacs and passages of the lung where they rapidly grow in number. Germs are spread both by aerosolized droplets that you breathe in, and through body fluids left on surfaces like counter tops and door handles.
Pneumonia is most commonly classified by where or how it was acquired but may also be classified by the area of lung affected or by the causative organism. The more virulent organisms often come from the health-care environment, either the hospital or nursing homes. Walking pmeumonia is caused by the Mycoplasma pneumoniae bacteria.
